News
The IRS is falling behind in processing millions of income tax returns, potentially delaying refunds for many Americans. According to the Taxpayer Advocate Service, an independent arm of the IRS focused on tax filers' rights, the agency is holding almost 31 million returns for manual processing just ahead of the May 17 tax filing deadline.

Key tax law changes
This past year has been a busy one on the tax legislation front with the following tax bills passed by Congress: Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES); Families First Coronavirus Response Act; Setting Every Community Up for Retirement Enhancement Act (SECURE); and the Taxpayer Certainty and Disaster Tax Relief Act of 2019.
